NEW VICTORY OF THE KALU COMMUNITY — WE WERE ELECTED AS THE FLAGSHIP MUNICIPALITY IN THE EUROPEAN PROJECT "SUN4UKRAINE"
From September 10 to October 20, 2024, a competition was held in Ukraine among more than 1,000 communities to determine the communities that will be pilot and participate in the European project "Sustainable Network of Climate-Neutral Cities" (SUN4UKRAINE), funded by the European Union.
Of all the communities that applied for the competition, the European Commission selected only 12:
1) Chernihiv;
2) Chernivtsi;
3) Dnipro;
4) Kalu; [✅]
5) Kharkiv;
6) Konotop;
7) Kyiv;
8) Mykolaiv;
9) Novovolynsk;
10) Pervomaysk;
11) Vinnytsia;
12) Zvyahilsk.
It is gratifying that our community was selected among the selected, quite strong and large communities, according to the relevant criteria.
We were informed by Patrick Child, Head of the European Cities and Environment Commission Mission, and Andre Sobchak, Secretary General of Eurocities, at the conference "State of Local Self-Government: Challenges and Prospects", which took place on December 2–3 in Kyiv.
Participation in this project will allow us to receive European Union funds in the future to implement measures in our city to achieve climate neutrality, energy security, and solve certain environmental problems.
